Travertine dining tables
Travertine Dining Tables
Travertine is the warm stone of Roman streets and Mediterranean houses. Our travertine dining tables are made to order in Morocco: broad oval tops, round tables on a single pedestal, bases cut from solid blocks.
Travertine shows its origin in fine pores, a linear grain and a tone that runs from ivory to honey. Many pieces can be made to your dimensions, and each table is professionally prepared for export, with free shipping to the United States and Marrakech.

Ask for a travertine tableThe stone
A stone that keeps its history.
Travertine forms where mineral-rich spring water deposits calcium carbonate, layer after layer. Gas bubbles and plant matter leave pores and cavities, which give the stone its linear grain and its natural texture.
The cavities of travertine can be left open, for a textured surface, or filled, for a smoother one; ask us which is possible for the piece you like. Surfaces can be honed, for a soft matte finish, or tumbled, for a gentler and more worn look.
Colour moves from ivory to warm beige and honey, and it changes from one block to the next. A travertine table will never match a photograph exactly.

Size guide
Choosing the right size
Travertine tops are often broad and generous. This guide gives a starting point for the length of the table.
| Table length | Comfortable seating |
|---|---|
| 60 to 72 in | 4 to 6 |
| 72 to 84 in | 6 to 8 |
| 84 to 96 in | 8 to 10 |
| 96 to 120 in | 10 to 12 |
These ranges are a guide for rectangular and oval tables. Chairs, bases and how closely you like to sit change them: tell us your room and we will advise.
Care
Living with travertine
Travertine is more porous than many stones, so it likes a gentle routine: wipe spills quickly, keep acidic liquids off the surface, use coasters and trivets, and clean with a soft cloth.
The Care & Maintenance page gives more detail.
Questions
Questions about travertine tables
What are the holes and cavities in travertine?
They are natural. Travertine forms around mineral springs and keeps fine pores and cavities, which can be left open for a textured surface or filled for a smoother one. Tell us which you prefer.
Is travertine suitable for a dining table?
Yes. Travertine has long been used for floors, walls and furniture. It is softer and more porous than some stones, so it benefits from careful use. Wipe spills quickly, keep acidic liquids (wine, citrus, vinegar) off the surface, and use coasters and trivets. The Care & Maintenance page gives more detail.
Honed or tumbled: which finish?
A honed finish is smooth and matte. A tumbled finish is softer at the edges and has a more worn, tactile look. The finishes available are shown on each piece.
Will my table look like the photographs?
Not exactly. Tone, grain and pores vary from block to block, and that variation is the character of travertine.
Can the table be made to custom dimensions?
Many pieces can. Tell us the size you need and we will confirm what is possible for the design you like.
How is a travertine table shipped internationally?
Each piece is professionally prepared for export. Shipping is free to the United States and to Marrakech; for any other destination, contact us. Include your postal code in your request so that we can confirm delivery to your address.
