Every piece starts from a material and ends in a crate. Between the two there are two ways of working: stone is selected, cut, shaped and finished; zellige is assembled tile by tile. Metal bases are shaped and finished by hand. The inspection and the packing are the same for all of them.

Stone: marble and travertine
-

1. Selection
Slabs of marble and travertine are considered side by side for tone, veining and character before a piece is cut.
-

2. Cutting
A guarded bridge saw cuts the slab to size, with water to cool the blade and keep the dust down.
-

3. Shaping
Edges are shaped and refined with water-fed tools, to the profile the design calls for.
-

4. Hand finishing
The edge is finished by hand with abrasive pads, until it has the honed or polished surface chosen for the piece.
Zellige
-

Assembly
Glazed tiles are cut and arranged by hand into a geometric pattern, tile by tile. Zellige is glazed clay, not stone: it is cared for differently, and its tone varies slightly from one tile to the next. Read about zellige.
Metal
-

Finishing
Metal bases are shaped, then the surface of the curved parts is refined and finished by hand to a satin sheen.
Inspection and packing
-

Inspection
Surfaces and edges are examined and wiped clean before packing.

Each piece is packed in a protective crate for international transport. See Shipping & Delivery.
