We want everyone to be able to look at our furniture, read about it and ask us about it, whatever their abilities and whatever device they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Keyboard use: every menu, filter, button, form and the photograph gallery can be used with a keyboard, a visible focus outline shows where you are, and a “skip to content” link jumps past the header.
- Structure: pages have one main heading, headings in order, and labelled regions (header, navigation, main, footer), so that a screen reader can move around quickly.
- Forms: every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and errors are written in plain words next to the field.
- Images: photographs that carry meaning have a text description; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology. Images have set dimensions so that the page does not jump while loading.
- Colour and text size: text has enough contrast with its background, and the page remains usable when the text size is increased. The layout adapts to phones, tablets and computers without sideways scrolling.
- Touch: buttons and links are large enough to tap.
- Motion: animations are gentle, and are reduced or removed when your device is set to reduce motion.
- Measurements: dimensions can be shown in inches and pounds, or in centimetres and kilograms.
How we checked
We tested the main pages (home, collections, product pages, the bespoke request, the quote form, the trade form, materials and Journal articles) with our own automated checks of the page structure, with a keyboard, and with a colour-contrast scan, on desktop and phone screen sizes in recent versions of Chrome. We also review the pages each time we change them.
What is not perfect yet
- This website has not yet been audited by an independent specialist, and it has not yet been tested by people who use screen readers or other assistive technology every day.
- The file-upload button in our request forms comes from a form tool and may not announce itself as clearly as the rest of the form. If you cannot use it, send your request without a file and tell us in the message: we will ask for your documents by e-mail.
- Some photographs are provisional and their descriptions will be refined as the final photography is added.
- We have not tested Safari, Firefox or Edge as thoroughly as Chrome.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this website is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Use the form on the Request a quote page and write “Accessibility” in the message, with the page address and what happened. We will answer, and we will try to give you the information or service you need in another way while we fix the problem.
This statement was prepared by us on the date above, and we update it when we improve the website or when we learn of a problem.
